The Hobbit advance tickets on sale November 7

TheOneRing.net spotted this updated banner image on Warner Bros’ Facebook page which announces that advance tickets for The Hobbit will go on sale Wednesday, November 7 at Noon Eastern Standard Time.

There is no news yet as to which theaters will be showing The Hobbit at 48 fps.  I expect tickets to those opening weekend screenings to sell out very quickly, so stay tuned to hfrmovies for updates: as information regarding 48 frames per second screenings becomes available, I will post it both here and on the 48 fps theater list page.  According to WB the 48 fps version will be available in all major markets in North America, but what they mean by “major markets” remains to be seen.  Hopefully everyone who wants to check out  The Hobbit the way it was meant to be seen will have the chance.

Hi I just found this site and I am glad I did. I am extremely excited for not just 48fps The Hobbit but a push for 48fps across all films. I am sick of 24fps; blurry and juddery. 48fps makes things look more like real life with a sense of depth that’s almost like 3D. I look forward to seeing more on this site and if I can contribute let me know!

Hi, welcome and thanks for visiting. I’m also greatly looking forward to a major cross-industry move towards HFR tech where all moving images on all screens (TVs, phones, tablets, movie screens, computer monitors etc) are, as you said, like real life with that great sense of clarity and depth.

I agree that 24 fps has overstayed its welcome…I’m surprised its taken so long since the advent of digital projection to move to higher frame rates as 24 fps is such an eyesore. Especially in big budget movies where the hard work of the VFX artists goes to waste when it’s blurred beyond recognition in moving shots.

If you’d like to contribute in any way (if you have any article ideas, high frame rate video samples, etc) please let me know! You can post them here, on the forum, or email me (mstat1@gmail.com). Thanks!
